About Us
A Better Living Sober Living House was founded in the spring of 2025 by Dr. Laura St. Martin and Tommy Ricks, both passionate advocates for recovery and long-term healing. Born out of a shared vision to provide meaningful second chances for those struggling with substance use, the home is a sanctuary designed to support individuals who are ready to start fresh and commit to a life of sobriety.
Nestled in the peaceful Rehoboth Beach area of Delaware, our beautiful eight-bed home sits on a serene 2-acre property that offers the perfect backdrop for recovery, reflection, and growth. The residence includes:
- A full kitchen
- Eight full-size beds
- A gym for physical wellness
- A Serenity Room for quiet meditation and mental clarity
- A cozy living room and full dining area
- And a swimming pool for recreation and relaxation
Our sober living house is intentionally designed to promote structure, comfort, and community. We welcome anyone who has a strong desire to get their life back on the right track, and we are currently accepting residents through interviews.
Located near major transportation routes, A Better Living is easily accessible for those seeking a stable environment to focus on their recovery. The only requirements for entry are:
- Proof of employment (or an active plan to obtain work)
- Three weeks of rent up front, which includes two weeks of security
- And most importantly, a burning desire to stay clean and sober
If you’re ready to begin again in a peaceful, purpose-driven environment, A Better Living is here to walk with you every step of the way.
Core Vision – A Better Living Sober Living House
At A Better Living, our vision is rooted in the belief that every individual—regardless of their past—is capable of building a meaningful, sober life filled with dignity, hope, and purpose. We exist to provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment where individuals recovering from substance use disorders can rediscover who they are and learn how to thrive without relying on alcohol or drugs.
We envision a community where recovery is not just about abstaining from substances but about transforming lives. Our homes are more than just places to sleep—they are sanctuaries of healing, accountability, and empowerment. Residents are given the opportunity to take ownership of their recovery journey while living among peers who share similar struggles and goals. Together, we form a family—a network of mutual support that fosters personal responsibility, integrity, and long-term wellness.
A Better Living stands as a bridge between active addiction and full independence. We aim to fill the gap left by treatment centers, offering individuals a transitional space where they can practice sober living, re-enter the workforce, rebuild relationships, and learn how to cope with life’s challenges in healthy, productive ways.
Our long-term vision includes expanding access to our homes across multiple communities, providing specialized resources for women, men, and marginalized groups often overlooked in recovery support. We believe in breaking the cycle of relapse by empowering our residents with structure, encouragement, and real-world tools to succeed.
Ultimately, A Better Living is more than a sober house—it is a movement to restore self-worth, awaken potential, and reignite purpose in the lives of those affected by addiction. We walk alongside our residents as they write a new chapter—one filled with strength, accountability, community, and above all, hope.
Mission Statement
At A Better Living Sober Living House, our mission is to provide a safe, structured, and compassionate environment where individuals recovering from substance use disorders can reclaim their lives and begin a new chapter rooted in integrity, self-respect, and personal responsibility.
We are committed to walking alongside our residents as they transition from addiction to sobriety, offering them not just shelter—but community, accountability, and the tools to thrive in everyday life. Through supportive housing, peer encouragement, and adherence to the principles of clean and sober living, we help our residents rebuild their self-worth and establish healthy routines that foster long-term recovery.
Our mission goes beyond abstinence. We believe in total life transformation—restoring hope, cultivating resilience, and guiding every individual to rediscover their true potential. With structure, stability, and support, our residents are empowered to heal, grow, and reintegrate into society as productive, sober, and fulfilled individuals.
We believe that everyone deserves a second chance, and at A Better Living, that chance begins with a safe home and a clear path forward.
